Springfield, NJ, August 2021
The 2021 Veteran Golfers Association Championship will take place at Baltusrol Golf Club, Springfield, NJ., on September 12 - 15, 2021. Cassy Tully, whose sports and lifestyle paintings are collected internationally, created the championship painting.
The VGA is dedicated to enriching the lives of Veterans and their family members through the camaraderie and sportsmanship of golf. This championship is deeply meaningful because it honors the twentieth anniversary of 9/11, when so many veterans responded to our nation’s call to service.
Cassy’s 22 X 28” painting features a dramatic nighttime view of the 9/11 Memorial, the twin beams of the Tribute in Light, and the New York City skyline, anchored by the iconic presence of the Statue of Liberty. She is flanked by the reflections of a firefighter and a kneeling soldier, a reminder of those who served during this critical time. An 18 X 24” poster of the painting is also available for purchase and personalization. A portion of the proceeds from 2021 VGA Championship posters and prints benefit the Veteran Golfers Association.
“I am deeply honored to create artwork for this championship,” Cassy said. “The VGA’s mission of honoring veterans by providing opportunities for meaningful connection through a sport I also love makes this painting memorable. Baltusrol Golf Club stands out as a signature welcoming experience for this event.”
The VGA hosts more than 450 tournaments across the country. Baltusrol Golf Club, founded in 1895, has a heritage as the leading 36-hole championship golf club in America. It is synonymous with championship golf since its inception, hosting 16 USGA Championships and two PGA Championships. Its iconic clubhouse, built in 1910, is a stunning facility acclaimed for its classic Tudor Revival architecture. In 2014, the club became one of only four golf course properties in the country to be named a National Historic Landmark.
